Remembrance
Today is Remembrance Day....a day to honor Veterans...
This week has been marked with drama in the political arena. The US election was watched around the world. Some people were doing the happy dance with the result. And some people are moving to Canada. The two candidates had different views on many things. But I like to think that one thing BOTH candidates would agree, is that Veterans are very special. Very special indeed.
Veterans are those who have served their countries in the military in times of war and also in peace-keeping times. They are truly heroes and they are both human AND canine.
In the US, a special National monument to recognize canine heroes was dedicated in 2013 at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. This memorial represents those canines serving in all the wars since WWII, and also represents the five US Armed Services - the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard. The following photos are particularly special...they were taken by a dear friend of my human who herself served for MANY years in the US Air Force - Janet Deltuva. This is a woman who was at the Pentagon on 9/11.....And if that's not special enough - Janet has ALSO been owned by two retired military working dogs....Emzy who is now doing duty guarding the Rainbow Bridge and her new boy, Ares. They are very special photos of a very special place that stands to signify the unique bond that we canines have with you humans. We have your back. All the time...
Today is a day to lay aside political differences and to honor those whose service to their country has provided us with and continues to provide us with the many freedoms that we have. No matter what country we live in.
Take a minute today to say thanks....
