Ordinary days

Let's talk about some "ordinary days".  Actually, nothing in this house is ever REALLY ordinary.  Not if I can help it.

Let’s see.  What's been going on here?  Our human continues to make her way through the leftover Halloween candy.  The moaning and groaning about her ill-fitting wardrobe will be starting any day now.

I have become QUITE accustomed to going in the DFZ – in FACT, my human found me in there just the other morning.  I was lying RIGHT next to the baby gate – IN the DFZ.  I do that just to show I CAN get in there now.  Frodo wasn’t even with me.   We still haven’t managed to get Pax in yet – still working on it.  It's kind of hard to hide a 100 lb dog.  But I'll figure out a way.

This whole time change thing has totally got us screwed up – more than usual – and our human is ready to scream.  All of us have been getting up at strange times – 2 AM, 3 AM, 4 AM…and we put our faces RIGHT on the pillow next to our human’s face.  We sit and stare at her.  Like we need to go out.  But we don’t.  Need to go out.  We’re just having time change adjustment issues.  (Not really – but that’s what we’ll blame it on!).

Our human had the day off for Remembrance Day this week – but we could NOT let her sleep in.  That would be a waste of a perfectly good day off.  So we dragged her out of bed – and we headed up to the golf course that is at the end of our road.  Now during the busy season – we can’t run around up there – but now that the season is ending, if we go up before the course opens –we can have a run.  Our human takes Frodo and me first, and then Paxton.  I was outfitted with a loud bell – to scare off any wildlife – and also so my human can hear me if I take off in the woods.

The first part of the walk/run was GREAT.  We were running around – and every time our human called us – we ran back to get a treat.  And then something happened. Suddenly.  In my brain. I think I finally recognized that I was really FREE.  I started REALLY doing zoomies.  And I had a total brain attack.  I was suffering from namenesia - that inability to remember your name when your human is calling you. And I RAN as far and fast as I could – away from my human.  Far, far away.  Now of course, Frodo, the good dog, stayed with her.  Well. Apparently my human called and called me – but I couldn’t hear her.  I couldn’t!!  : )  She was NOT impressed.  According to Frodo, she was mumbling some not so nice words under her breath in between shouting my name.  After a little while,  I figured that I had better go back so I RACED toward her – and raced right past her.  Whoooosh.  I could see that she had the leash in her hand – and my zoomies were about to come to an end.  So off I went again.  For another round.  Running.  Rolling. Jumping. In a joyful state of total namenesia.  On my next fly-by, she managed to grab my collar – and that put an end to my freedom.  Frodo just rolled his eyes at me. Busted.  But it was so worth it.

So.  That’s all the ordinary news from this house.  Actually, my goal in life is to make every day EXTRAordinary.   And I think I do a fine job! But that's what we canines are all about...
