Dog news

It was terrible news out of Texas the past few days.  Hurricane Harvey hit with a vengeance- and the clean up from the flooding will be going on for a long time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many people and dogs who lost their homes.

While I was looking at info about the storm I saw a photo that went viral.  Seems a dog was left in a porch by a man looking after his grandson who was the dogs’s owner.  When they returned, Otis had escaped.  They were not TOO worried as Otis reportedly frequently does walkabouts in his town,  and he is a familiar sight to many.  But while he IS a familiar traveler, this time he decided not to travel light – a photo was snapped of Otis carrying a big bag of dog food. The photo went viral.  I figured when I heard about the story that the dog MUST be a PON.  Given his love for food.  But it turns out he is a German Shepherd cross.  And the good news – Otis was reunited with his family and all are safe and sound.  The other good news will no doubt be for the brand of dog food he was carrying… Isn’t THAT an advertising dream come true?!

And in other dog news, President Macron of France has a dog!  Nemo is a black lab-griffon cross and he is two years old. They say he is following a tradition of French Presidents having a dog.  I watched the following video, and I was impressed with his behaviour.  It’s hard to believe some dogs can be so well behaved…

I don’t know much about the President of France, but he can’t be bad if he has a dog…All presidents should….

And in local news, Einstein has gone into a deep depression.   We all know that he prides himself on his ability to break through ANY gate that my human sets up at the doorway to the DFZ.  And he likes to taunt her by lying JUST inside the DFZ when he sneaks inside.  Well it looks like his days in the restricted room will soon be coming to an end.  Two men came to the house yesterday.  With measuring tapes.  And guess what my human has decided?  To put doors into the DFZ.  Glass doors.  So they won’t really shut the room off – except to us dogs.  Einstein is beside himself.   I think it’s pretty mean too.  Mind you, it will be a wonderful new canvas for our olfactory art.  She may be sorry about this decision ….

Anyway, I hope you have a good one.  Peace and paws up!
